How It All Started
"Our Story" is nothing short of a miracle and a testament of the faithfulness of God and His divine intentionality to not plant anything to fail.
Church at the Crossing officially launched as a church plant in February of 2009 at Davis Theater, now AMC 6. Setting up and tearing down equipment every weekend, the church found itself in a few different locations for the first 8 years of its inception.
The church planted through an incredible organization called ARC (Association of Related Churches) out of Birmingham, AL where we are church plant number 88 out of hundreds to date.

Expanding The Vision
Eight years into its birth, Church at the Crossing had an unforeseen and drastic change in leadership which served as a catalyst for realignment and a change of trajectory. What the enemy meant for evil, the Lord meant for good.
The planting Pastor resigned and appointed John Dowdey to the lead pastor position where he got busy addressing discovered flaws in bylaws and structure as well as surrounded himself and the church with strong accountability and leaders to help relaunch the church with fresh vision for the future.
As a result of quick growth and a call to "take on the city's problems", Church at the Crossing relocated to the heart of Dothan, AL. In 2023, we sold that building and made the decision to be a mobile church. We are now meeting at Dothan High School until a permanent campus is built.
We exist to participate in moments of grace. It is not just who we are but it is what we do.

Where We Are Headed
As we continue to walk out the vision of expanding into neighboring rural communities we trust God will remain faithful as we are obedient. Our vision moving forward is simply to love people where they are and to provide them a place to belong.
With strong convictions, healthy relationships, and our Core Values leading the way we continue to advance the Kingdom of God for His namesake, not ours.

Association of Related Churches
Since 2001, the mission of ARC has been to train and resource church planters in starting new churches. New church plants and existing churches that partner with ARC in planting churches are legally autonomous, independently led, separately operated, and solely accountable to their leadership, independent of the ARC organization. We are grateful to each of these churches for their love of Jesus and for joining in the mission to plant new churches.
